Artists for Social Change

The Newcomb Art Museum hosted a tour with artists Kasimu L. Harris, MaPo Kinnord, and Lee Deigaard, and a workshop with author/activist Lara Naughton. Afterward, the museum held a panel discussion exploring arts activism in New Orleans, particularly as it relate to mass incarceration and creating platforms to discuss social justice in our community. Featuring artists Carl Joe Williams, Sheila Phipps, Taslim van Hattum and Alex Stokes of The Blue House Civic Studio, this engaging discussion moderated by Newcomb Art Museum curator Laura Blereau was a wonderful talk for all!
