Art for Social Change

Drop by the museum on Saturday, April 13 for a variety of events inspired by “Art for Social Change.”

  • 12 pm - Drop by Newcomb Art Museum at noon for a tour of the current exhibition led by artists MaPo Kinnord and Lee Deigaard!

  • 1 pm - Author and activist Lara Naughton will lead an interactive writing workshop centered on “personal writing for social change.” Supplies and prompts will be provided, all ages and writing levels are welcome. Come tap into your creative side and learn how to make your voice heard!

  • 2 pm - Join the museum in Freeman Auditorium for a panel discussion exploring arts activism in New Orleans, particularly as it relates to mass incarceration and creating platforms to discuss social justice in our community. Featuring artists Carl Joe Williams, Sheila Phipps, Taslim van Hattum and Alex Stokes of The Blue House Civic Studio, this engaging discussion moderated by Newcomb Art Museum curator Laura Blereau will not be one to miss!
